From Coast to Countryside: Devon’s Most Beautiful Photoshoot Spots


Choosing the perfect location for your photoshoot is where the magic really begins - and here in Devon, we’re completely spoilt for choice. From windswept beaches and dramatic cliffs to peaceful woodlands and rolling countryside, this corner of the world offers an incredible backdrop for every kind of story.


Whether you’re dreaming of golden-hour light by the sea, a quiet moment beneath the trees, or wide landscapes that feel wild and free, the setting you choose can shape the entire feel of your images. It’s not just about where you go - it’s about how it reflects you.


In this post, I’m sharing some of my favourite South Devon locations to help spark ideas and inspire you as you start planning your own photoshoot.

Bantham Sand

Location: South Devon
Location: South Devon

Bantham Sand is an excellent large sandy beach, popular with families and surfers. There is a large expanse of sand and there are rock pools at the southern end. There are suberb views across to Bigbury-On-Sea.


Bantham Sand is the perfect place for any photoshoot, from the sandy beach to the dunes and the beautiful views. If you visit around April you might even catch the blue bells atop the dunes!


Parking: 1 large car park close to the beach.

Toilets: Yes, by the entrance to the car park.

Mill Bay Beach

Location: South Devon

Mill Bay is a pleasant sheltered sandy beach on the east bank of Salcombe harbour. At low tide the beach stretches north to East Portlemouth beach.


Mill Bay beach, is across from Salcombe and boasts not only a beautiful and sheltered sandy beach but also The South West Coast Path with breathtaking views, perfect for a photoshoot!


Parking: 1 car park by the beach.

Toilets: Yes, in the car park.

South Milton Sands

LOCATION: SOUTH DEVON

South Milton Sands is the perfect natural backdrop for a truly unforgettable photoshoot. With expansive golden sands, intricate rock pools, and soft dunes rolling behind, every angle offers something unique and beautiful to capture.

Imagine your photos bathed in soft coastal light, with reflections shimmering in the rock pools and the sea stretching endlessly behind you.


Whether it’s a relaxed family session, a romantic couple’s shoot, or a fun, candid dog walk, this location creates timeless images full of life and atmosphere. The crystal-clear water and dramatic coastal geology bring out incredible colours in every frame, while the iconic Thurlestone Rock stands proudly offshore - an eye-catching focal point that adds a sense of place and drama to your photos.

Trentford Reservoir

Location: South Devon

Trenchford Reservoir is a quiet and sheltered area is attractive to a wide range of wildlife and is an ideal place to bring all members of the family.

Dunsford Wood

Location: South Devon

Dunsford Wood is perfect for a relaxed, natural photoshoot. Set along the winding River Teign, this wooded valley offers a mix of soft forest light, flowing water, and sweeping views for a variety of stunning backdrops. From intimate moments beneath oak and birch trees to dramatic shots overlooking the Teign Valley, every corner feels effortlessly photogenic. In spring, the woodland floor bursts into a rare display of wild daffodils, adding an extra touch of magic to your images.
